CALL FOR PAPERS: Early Education Journal 2027 Volume

We are delighted to invite submissions for the 2027 volume of Early Education Journal. As Aotearoa's premier practitioner-focused publication in early years education, we seek manuscripts that bridge theory and practice, offering valuable insights for educators across the sector.

All accepted submissions will be published in "Online First", which means your work will be published digitally as soon as it's ready, and included in the next volume. 

Topics of Interest

We welcome contributions in areas including, but not limited to:

Innovative approaches to curriculum and pedagogy
Culturally responsive teaching practices in early childhood settings
Inclusive education strategies and frameworks
Intentional teaching methodologies
Contemporary issues affecting early childhood education in Aotearoa
Te Whāriki implementation and reflections
Family/whānau partnerships and community engagement

Submission Types

The journal accepts:

Peer-reviewed articles with a maximum of 3500 words.
Editor-reviewed articles with a maximum of 3500 words.
Research notes with a maximum of 1500 words.
Opinion pieces or commentaries with a maximum of 1500 words.
Book or resource reviews with a maximum of 1000 words.

Student Submissions

We actively encourage submissions from student teachers and postgraduate students. These may include:

Assessment pieces adapted for publication
Inquiry-based project outcomes
Findings from postgraduate research studies
Action research conducted in teaching settings

Students will receive additional editorial support throughout the publication process.

Review Process

Authors can choose between:

Editor review: A supportive process with direct guidance from our editorial team
Double-blind peer review: For research articles and academic papers seeking rigorous academic feedback—also a supportive process
